Students – Getting Startedbranddaddy2020-07-08T08:40:29+00:00
When it comes to YPI Northern Ireland it’s sometimes difficult to know where to start. Hopefully these top five tips will help you on your way:
Your Social Issue
You choose the social issue you feel most strongly about. You’ll be responsible for convincing others why that issue is important, so choose something that’s important to you!
How you work as a team will decide how successful you are through YPI. Identify your team strengths & weaknesses, and think about how your team might stand out from the pack.
Make a personal connection with your chosen charity. Go further than websites and reading leaflets – visit, phone, interview. Your teachers can’t do this for you, it is up to you – leave the classroom behind!
Tell us precisely what difference £3000 would make to your chosen charity. Yes we want to hear about your charity’s excellent work, but we want a real business case about the impact the YPI grant would have upon your charity’s work.
Think outside the box, be creative and be passionate. Honesty and eye contact have far more power than even the best written notes and PowerPoint presentations. Explore the talents within your team, utilise the skills each individual has, perhaps through music, drama, role play or poetry.
“Philanthropy is all about making a positive difference in the world by devoting your resources and your time to causes you believe in. In my case, I like to support causes where “a lot of good comes from a little bit of good,” or, in other words, where the positive social returns vastly exceed the amount of time and money invested.”
